The introduction of UV units to pond filtration in the 1980s revolutionised fish keeping. For the first time, pond owners could guarantee water clarity 365 days a year.
In addition to killing water-borne algae (green water) UV light also benefits the fish by reducing bacteria and water-borne fungi.
What size UV unit do I require?
The following table will ensure that you select the correct size UV unit.
Please note: To work out your pond's gallonage multiply average length x average width x average depth x 6.25
UV bulbs require replacing every 5000 hours (approx 6 months). The bulb will still light after 6 months, but an insignificant amount of UV will be omitted.
