This will allow the fish to be fed regularly during the day when you are usually at work. Feeders also have the tendency to make fish tamer.</li> <li>When feeding heavily test water at least weekly to ensure water quality remains perfect. (Recording the results) a free water test data sheet is available from Koi Water Garden. </li> <li>Monitor fish health daily. Problems occur and worsen much faster at higher temperatures.</li> <li>Add additional aeration ideally using an air blower and air disc. (For your Koi this additional aeration is the equivalent difference between living at the top and the bottom of a mountain and they will continue to be active, have a healthy appetite and thrive even in high temperatures.</li> <li>Place a second back up air supply such as air blower on your pond so in the event of one appliance failing the other will comfortably keep your fish alive until you initially notice and then rectify the problem. </li> <li>Ideally a back up air supply should be on a separate electric circuit. </li> <li>If pond is very shallow, provide shade in hot weather to prevent sunburn. </li> <li>For maximum growth (up to 12" a year) heat pond to 25`c from May - September.
